I was completely done with this shit when I found out that the people running the No on 8 campaign told the black lesbian who had made  a documentary — if not the first documentary— about black gay marriages that they werent interested in using her film as an outreach tool and that unless she did fundraising they didnt have any place for her.  And lets not even get into their inability to do outreach in languages other than english until a month before voting day, while the yes on 8 people had been running campaigns in like 6 languages.

yes. this was when I lived in the Bay Area, and I remember the lack of multilingual outreach/mobilizing/organizing/coordination, or in fact the lack of any of that going on in any but the most bourgie & white of neighborhoods and scenes. Ugh. it was destined to fail, given that kind of “activism” behind it.
